I woke up to this poem in my text messages
Before my eyes opened
My mind spoke your existence
Whispered you into lucid dreams
and gave you face and form.
To wake would mean to lose your image
So I fall deeper into slumber to hold on
And kiss you goodbye in the morning.
This is my response:
I watch you as you open your eyes
thanking the stars for this love’s presence
and though I knew it would be a selfish deed
I used my power to bring you
back into my dream world.
With each passing thought of your awakening
I stand unmoved in your dreams,
making it impossible for you to depart
without my lips’ touch lingering on yours
In the midst of waking from your slumber.
